Chesapeake Bay Foundation – The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is uniquely qualified to lead the effort to restore the Chesapeake. As you wander through this site, you'll see concrete examples of how CBF is helping to restore the tapestry that is the Bay. Their efforts are organized under the headings of "resource protection and restoration" and "environmental education." But in practice, all of their initiatives interconnect. The students who canoe through marsh guts with educators grow into oyster gardeners, scientists, Bay advocates, and caring citizens. Their work to promote "smart growth" improves water quality for Bay species, protects green spaces, and reduces the flow of pollution to the Bay. Oysters raised by volunteers end up on reefs created by their resources protection scientists. A visit to this site reveals CBF's plan to "Save the Bay."

USGS Chesapeake Bay Activities – The United States Geological Survey is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior. The USGS participates in the Chesapeake Bay Program by providing data, conducting studies, and serving on technical committees and workgroups. This site contains a wealth of information about the Chesapeake Bay's progress towards restoration.
Chesapeake Bay Program – The Chesapeake Bay Program is the unique regional partnership that's been directing and conducting the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay since the signing of the historic 1983 Chesapeake Bay Agreement. The Chesapeake Bay Program partners include the states of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia; the District of Columbia; the Chesapeake Bay Commission, a tri-state legislative body; the Environmental Protection Agency, representing the federal government; and participating advisory groups. This site includes a wealth of information about the history of the Bay, plants and animals, habitats, water quality, restoration and how to get involved.
Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay – The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is a regional nonprofit organization that builds and fosters partnerships for the restoration of the Bay and its rivers. They are proud to sustain a regional reputation as a facilitator of Bay issues and a source of objective, in-depth information on the Bay restoration. The Alliance does not lobby or litigate, but brings together diverse interests in search of cooperative solutions to Bay problems. The site includes information about their membership, publications and projects. The Bay Journal site contains back issues of the publication from 1994 to the present time and you can search for published articles on topics of interest to you.
Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department – The Chesapeake Bay Local Assistance Department is the state agency which provides staff support to the local assistance Board in carrying out the requirements of the Bay Act. Major Department efforts in implementing the Bay Act include administering a competitive grants program for localities and planning districts, providing training for local government planners and engineers, and reviewing local comprehensive plans and ordinances for compliance. Virginia Institute of Marine Science – Chartered in 1940, the School of Marine Science/Virginia Institute of Marine Science (SMS/VIMS), has a tripartite mission of research, education, and advisory service in marine science. This mandate established an institution that is uniquely prepared to educate the highly qualified researchers, resource managers, and educators needed for the future. Today, SMS/VIMS is the third largest marine research and education center in the country. The site also includes an online Science Magazine which contains up-to-date articles related to many areas of science.

Northern Neck Audubon Society – Contains newsletters, schedule of meetings, bird walk schedules and a list of common birds of the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Virginia Marine Resources Commission – They are a source for information on commercial and recreational fisheries, including licensing, research, tides, etc.

Potomac Conservancy – The Potomac Conservancy is a regional land and water conservation organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural, scenic, recreational, and historical qualities of the Potomac River and its watershed lands.

Chesapeake Bay Garden Club, Reedville (The Garden Club of Virginia) – The purpose of this site is to promote communication among The Garden Club of Virginia and members, Board of Directors and committees; to publicize both Garden Club of Virginia and member club events; to create awareness about environmental issues and educational programs; and to provide information and support of the annual Daffodil, Lily and Rose Shows, Historic Garden Week and Restored Historic Gardens by The Garden Club of Virginia. The Chesapeake Bay Garden Club, Reedville, seeks to aid in the protection and conservation of our natural resources, to encourage civic beauty and roadside beautification, to study the fine art of gardening in all its aspects, and to cooperate with other agencies furthering the interests of horticulture and conservation. Meetings are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday except in December, July and August. During December a workshop to make wreaths for sale helps to finance community projects. SEAS (Shoreline Erosion Advisory Service) – DCR's Shoreline Erosion Advisory Service promotes environmentally acceptable shoreline and riverbank erosion control measures to protect private property and reduce sediment and nutrient loads to the Chesapeake Bay and other waters of the Commonwealth. In addition, the program promotes research for improved shoreline management techniques to protect and enhance Virginia's shoreline resources. A visit to the web site or a call to (804) 443-3803 provides free advice for people who want to try and stop erosion of their shoreline.
Northern Neck Master Gardeners Association – Information may be obtained at Virginia Cooperative Extension (804) 580-5694 as a resource to assist in planting strategies for riparian buffers, etc.
National Small Flows Clearinghouse – This is a great place to go for information about septic systems and alternatives.
The SAIF Water Committee – A former group helping people who don't have water and bathrooms, and to keep drinking water safe in rural wells. Website has been maintained for reference.
