38 Students Enjoy the Bay on NAPS-Sponsored Eco-Tour

NAPS sponsored 38 5th-grade students, many of whom have never been on a boat, to experience the Chesapeake Bay aboard the Kit II, with Captain Danny Crabbe and Mate Ms. Bonnie on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

Students boarded from the dock at Tommy's Restaurant in Reedville and enjoyed a half day pulling crab pots, fishing for rockfish, viewing the Omega Protein plant and the famous "stack" from the boat, and sampling crab claws from Cockrell's Seafood Deli. They enjoyed lunch at the Reedville Fishermen's Museum under the pavilion.

The students were also given an informative tour of the Reedville Fishermen's Museum. Highlights included the Walker House, the natural shoreline and, of course, the small model boats and the boat building areas.

Students said that they really enjoyed the day. The weather was wonderful and it was a fabulous way to wrap up elementary school with their graduation to middle school ceremony held that evening.
