NAPS Creek Cleanup Scheduled for Sunday Oct. 6

The 2019 NAPS Creek Cleanup is scheduled for Sunday Oct. 6. We’ll get fueled up with a free lunch for all participants around noon, then we’ll clean up the shorelines of the upper Great Wicomico River using a small fleet of skiffs and lots of helping hands, ending around 3 p.m. The land base of operations will be Mallard Bay community clubhouse and piers in Heathsville (click here for Google Maps location).

Each team of “pickers” will be matched with a skiff and “captain” to clean up trash along the upper Great Wicomico River including each of the adjacent creeks. Paddlers and also welcome to participate, especially to cover Bush Mill Stream, Crabbe Mill Stream and the upper reaches of other creeks. Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories.

A free T-shirt (see NAPS' new design below) will also be given to each participant who signs up before Sept. 15. Download the volunteer form and email it back to stewardship@NAPSva.org be sure to include your t-shirt size at the top of the form.

If you own a skiff and can “captain” one of the teams, please email stewardship@NAPSva.org or call Mike at 313-0274 ASAP. We also welcome volunteers to help with organization, check-in, lunch setup/cleanup, and sorting trash as it comes off the boats.
