Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, Sat. Apr. 22

Northumberland County residents can responsibly rid themselves of hazardous & electronic waste by bringing it to the Northumberland County Middle School parking lot Saturday, April 22, 2023 - 9:00am to 2:00pm.

According to The Northern Neck Soil & Water Conservation District website, the following items are acceptable:

• Spent fluorescent bulbs

• Unwanted pesticides

• Anti-freeze

• Rechargeable batteries

• Cleaners

• Oil-based paint/stains

• Old/contaminated fuels/petroleum products

• Household chemicals

• Computers, Laptops, Mainframes, Peripherals, Monitors

• Telephones

• Cell phones

• Telephone systems

• Fax machines

• copiers

• printers

• TVs

• Electronic circuit boards & components

• Stereo equipment

• Games, etc.

Nonacceptable items:

• Car Batteries (these can be recycled at auto shops)

• Radioactive items

• Smoke detectors

• Medical waste

• Medications

• Ammo/explosives
