An Evening with Tom Horton, Chesapeake Bay Reporter, Nature Writer and Filmmaker


“The Once and Future Chesapeake: A Top Reporter’s Half-Century Glimpse” will be the theme of an evening with Tom Horton – Chesapeake Bay reporter, nature writer, book author, and filmmaker – Friday, June 29, 2018 at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club, 362 Club Drive, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.

A former Baltimore Sun reporter covering the Bay, Tom Horton is widely recognized as one of America’s foremost nature writers. Born on the Bay and a “waterman” all his life, he’s authored four books on the Chesapeake, partnered on Bay photo and essay books, and produced two hour-long TV documentaries on Bay blue crabs and on watermen. His work has been published in National Geographic, The New York Times, Smithsonian, Rolling Stone, and many more outlets. His five-week six-credit kayak course for Salisbury University in Maryland covers the entire Delmarva Peninsula.

A 6 p.m. Cash Bar Reception will be followed by a 7 p.m. buffet dinner and presentation by Tom Horton. Reserve early as seating limited to 100. $35 per person includes tax, gratuities, speaker honorarium:

Buffet dinner menu: Grilled asparagus; herb-roasted potatoes; seasonal tossed garden salad bar; honey-wasabi glazed salmon with citrus-ginger cream sauce; bruschetta stuffed chicken with roasted garlic veloute; shrimp and penne caprese with sun-dried tomato marinara, assorted artisan rolls. Dessert: banana-chocolate swirl cake; cheesecake with fresh berries.
