Earth Day in February Symposium/NAPS Annual Meeting
The Northumberland Assn. for Progressive Stewardship (NAPS) will host an environmental symposium, called Earth Day in February, of Northern Neck organizations on Saturday, February 10, 2018, in the Fellowship Hall at the United Methodist Church in Heathsville starting at 10 a.m. The church is located at the corner of US 360 and VA-201 where NAPS signs will be set up. The symposium is free to the public and all are welcome – refreshments will be served.
The symposium’s objective is to let area organizations and the public exchange information about projects, display literature, and in some cases, form joint ventures. In addition, the groups may attract new volunteers or donations. The title anticipates the Earth Day celebration sponsored by NAPS at the April 21 Tavern Farmers Market in Heathsville.
“We want to provide a platform for an exchange of ideas from organizations with varied agendas that include environmental education or sensitive area clean-ups,” said NAPS President Mike Ahart about the symposium.
The program opens with two clean-up projects – one from NAPS and the other by the Northumberland Elementary School Problem Solvers.

There will be breaks in the program to allow attendees to pick up literature and hold informal discussions with the speakers.
The NAPS Annual Business Meeting will follow the program. New Board members will be elected and 2018 projects will be discussed.
